Research

For many hoof care providers, scientific support for a various protocols is necessary to be considered valid and therefore feasible approaches to hoof care.  For others, scientific support doesn’t mean much if they can see measurable and repeatable results, and the health and well-being of the horse is improved.  The ELPO is involved in both developing practical protocols for hoof care, as well as supporting these protocols with scientific scrutiny & acceptance.  Many of the ELPO members are actively engaged in research projects of all levels.  Many projects start out as simple case studies or practical field studies, that will later develop into more controlled scientific research projects.  Each ELPO member is encouraged to conduct at least 3 case studies per year to both improve their observation and evaluation skills, as well as gather comprehensive data that will guide future research efforts.
